Japan Telecom to merge 4 J-Phone firms in Nov.

TOKYO, Japan - Koichi Sakata, chairman of Japan Telecom Co., announces the merger of the company's four J-phone mobile phone firms at a news conference in Tokyo on Aug. 24. Japan Telecom will merge J-Phone East Co., J-Phone West Co. and J-Phone Central Co. into their holding company, J-Phone Communications Corp., on Nov. 1 to better compete with market leader NTT DoCoMo Inc.
