Hitachi to cut 14,700 jobs, projects 140 bil. yen loss

TOKYO, Japan - Hitachi Ltd. President Etsuhiko Shoyama (L) is surrounded by reporters in Tokyo on Aug. 31 after announcing the company's restructuring plan to cut 14,700 jobs, or 4.5% of its group workforce of 324,000, by the end of next March.
