(1)Ichiro sets new Major League rookie most hits record

SEATTLE, United States - Seattle Mariners leadoff batter Ichiro Suzuki hits a single, his 234th hit of the season, to center off Oakland Athletics starter Erik Hiljus in the fourth inning at Safeco Field in Seattle on Sept. 29. It was a new Major League record for most hits by a rookie. The previous record of 233 hits was set by ''Shoeless'' Joe Jackson in 1911. (MLB)
