U.N., Annan win Nobel Peace Prize
NEW YORK, United States - United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan speaks to reporters Oct. 12 in front of his official residence in New York about his winning the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize. The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the prize to the U.N. and Annan for Annan's fight against HIV/AIDS and terrorism.
