Lower house panel OKs antiterrorism bill
TOKYO, Japan - Ruling coalition members of the House of Representatives' panel stand up to approve a government-sponsored antiterrorism bill at the Diet on Oct. 16. The bill, which the lower house plenary session is expected to pass on Oct. 18, will allow Japan to dispatch Self-Defense Forces (SDF) personnel overseas to provide noncombat support for the U.S.-led military operation against terrorism.
