Japanese singer calls for rice for Afghan children
TOKYO, Oct. 18 Kyodo - Japanese ballad singer Kazuo Kyo sings on the street in Tokyo's Ginza district Oct. 18 to appealed to the general public for rice donations for Afghan children in refugee camps in Pakistan. Kyo, 51, and his group said the rice will reach the camps by February 2002 after it is made into a water-soluble powdered form in a factory in Nagano Prefecture, central Japan. The group hopes to produce 100 tons of the rice flour.
