Japan, U.S. launch talks on SDF support of U.S. forces
TOKYO, Japan - Japanese and U.S. officials shake hands at the beginning of high-level security talks that began in Tokyo on Nov. 1, 2001 to shape a basic plan for the Japanese Self-Defense Forces (SDF) to lend noncombat support to the ongoing U.S.-led military operations against terrorism.
