Kato apologizes to supporters for secretary's tax scandal

YAMAGATA, Japan - Former Liberal Democratic Party Secretary General Koichi Kato on Jan. 12 apologized to local supporters in Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture, over a tax evasion scandal involving his senior secretary Saburo Sato.
