Koizumi says took 'responsibility' with sackings
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi responds to questions during a House of Councillors Budget Committee session Jan. 30. Koizumi said he decided to dismiss Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka and Vice Foreign Minister Yoshiji Nogami as a way to take responsibility for conflicts in the Foreign Ministry complicating Diet business. The empty seat (R, background) was vacated by Tanaka.
