Tanaka arrives in Beijing to mark 30th anniversary of ties

BEIJING, China - Former Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka is surrounded by reporters after arriving at Beijing airport on March 21. Tanaka, the daughter of the late Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka who established diplomatic ties with China in 1972, is scheduled to take part in events to mark the 30th anniversary of the normalization.
