(1)30,000 Naha residents evacuated for disposal of WWII bomb
NAHA, Japan - Some 30,000 Naha residents were evacuated March 24 for the disposal of an unexploded 250-kilogram shell (photo) used by the United States during World War II. The Ground Self-Defense Force disposed of the shell, which was found in a park. The shell measured 120 centimeters long and 36 cm in diameter.
