WHO spurns Taiwan's bid to attend annual assembly
GENEVA, Switzerland - Taiwan's Health Department head Lee Ming-liang (C) speaks with the media in Geneva on May 13 after the World Health Organization (WHO) spurned Taipei's bid to participate in the current annual assembly in its capacity as an ''health entity.'' China, who calls Taiwan a renegade province, has strongly objected Taiwan's participation in WHO activity, calling it an attempt to foster ''two Chinas'' at the WHO, a U.N. special agency.
