Shinjo hits 1st grand slam in majors by Japanese player

SAN FRANCISCO, United States - Tsuyoshi Shinjo became the first Japanese player to hit a gram slam in the major leagues May 17 and the San Francisco Giants routed the Florida Marlins 9-3 at Pacific Bell Park. ''The ball came just as I swung. I had the feeling it was going to go out,'' said Shinjo after the game. (MLB)
