Highest temperatures marked in many parts of Japan
TOKYO, Japan - People lie or sit on benches in Tokyo's Hibiya Park on Aug. 6 to flee from a heat wave. A Pacific anticyclone brought the highest temperatures this summer to many parts of Japan, with the mercury reaching 39.0 C in Sakuma, Shizuoka Prefecture, 38.2 C in Nagoya and Gigu, central Japan, and 35.7 C in central Tokyo.
