Furukawa Electric, SKY Aluminium to merge aluminum operations

TOKYO, Japan - Furukawa Electric Co. President Junnosuke Furukawa (R) and SKY Aluminium Co. President Satoshi Fujikuchi shake hands at a news conference Aug. 6 after announcing an agreement to merge their aluminum operations in October 2003. SKY Aluminium is a joint venture established by Showa Denko, Nippon Steel and other concerns.
