Toho Gas to absorb 3 units
NAGOYA, Japan - Toho Gas Co. President Toshio Hayakawa speaks at a news conference Aug. 7 on his firm's decision to absorb three of its gas supply subsidiaries on April 2003 to strengthen its foothold in the industry, where competition is intensifying as a result of deregulation of the energy-supply business. Japan's third-largest city gas company said the three subsidiaries, based respectively in Gifu, Mie and Aichi prefectures, will be dissolved through stock-swap deals and become branches.
