Gov't to limit fishing rights for black bass
TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken in January 2001 shows a black bass caught in Lake Biwa, Shiga Prefecture. Japan's Fisheries Agency decided on Aug. 14 to limit fishing rights for nonnative fish, including the popular black bass, due to the harm they pose to the ecosystem in Japan. Agency officials said they aim to curb the release and proliferation of black bass because they are linked to a decreasing number of native fish.
