Chile court denies asset safety to woman in Japan fraud case
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - A Santiago appeals court on Aug. 24 dismisses a request for asset protection submitted by Anita Alvarado (file photo), the Chilean wife of a Japanese man accused of embezzling in Japan and sending the money overseas. Her latest move was seen as an effort to stop an Aug. 14 Santiago court decision to auction her luxurious residence in Chicureo on the outskirts of Santiago where she currently lives with her four children.
