Yamaha aims to develop world's 1st gas-electric hybrid bike

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows a prototype of the Hybrid Commuter, which Yamaha Motor Co. hopes will be the world's first gas-electric hybrid bike. The Hybrid Commuter, with a bicycle-like frame, achieves a mileage of 250 kilometers per liter (kpl), much higher than that of motorcycles, Yamaha says.

            Aerology Lab (Minoh City, Osaka Prefecture) announced on April 14 that it has developed a prototype of a "purely Japanese" flying robot (drone), "AeroRange Pro" (photo), which consists entirely of parts made in Japan. In general, drones rely on parts made in China for most of their components. The company aims to start mass production in small lots by December. (Minato Ward, Osaka City), which operates an open innovation base, Kobashi Robotics (Minami Ward, Okayama City), which supports mass production, and Liberace (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo), which comprehensively supports venture businesses from trial manufacture to mass production. The company is promoting speedy manufacturing in cooperation with town factories in Kansai and other regions. The hybrid drone combines an engine and an electric motor.               TSURU, Japan, Dec. 19 Kyodo - Photo shows a magnetically levitated train that set a world speed record of 603 kilometers per hour in a test run conducted by Central Japan Railway Co. on April 21, 2015. The test was conducted using new LO-series cars on the track between Uenohara and Fuefuki in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo. A maglev train service will start between Tokyo's Shinagawa Station and Nagoya in 2027.
