YAMAGATA, Japan - An annual taro-eating festival is held Sept. 1 alongside the Mamigasaki River in Yamagata Prefecture, heralding the arrival of autumn. Meals for 30,000 people were prepared in a huge pot weighing 3 tons and measuring 6 meters in diameter.
