KYOTO, Japan - The annual Jidai Matsuri, or Festival of the Times, is held in Kyoto, featuring a procession of people dressed in colorful costumes from various periods in Japanese history. The photo shows the procession leaving the Heian Shrine with a portable shrine for the Kyoto Imperial Palace prior to the start of the procession.
