(1)Matsui declares self free agent, hopes to play in majors

TOKYO, Japan - Yomiuri Giants slugger Hideki Matsui announces his intention to play in Major League Baseball next season at a news conference Nov. 1 in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward. Matsui has played 10 seasons for Yomiuri and earned two Central League batting titles this season.
