(2)Abera wins Fukuoka marathon
FUKUOKA, Japan - Olympic and world champion Gezahegne Abera (R) of Ethiopia and Japan's Tsuyoshi Ogata run neck and neck at the 41-kilometer point in the Fukuoka International Marathon on Dec. 1. Abera, the gold medalist at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the world championships in Edmonton, Canada, in August 2001, won the race in a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, 13 seconds. Ogata finished second with a personal-best 2:09:15. (Pool photo)
