637 'war orphans' sue gov't for abandoning them in China
TOKYO, Japan - Returnee ''war orphans,'' who were left behind in China at the end of World War II, and their supporters enter the Tokyo District Court on Dec. 20 to file a lawsuit against the government to demand compensation for their abandonment and for what they say has been insufficient support since their return to Japan. A total of 637 war orphans joined the suit demanding 33 million yen each.
