Mizuho announces 1 tril. yen capital increase

TOKYO, Japan - Mizuho Holdings Inc. President Terunobu Maeda tells reporters in Tokyo on Jan. 21 that the Mizuho Financial Group will boost its capital by about 1 trillion yen by the March 31 end of fiscal 2002 because it will increase its loan-loss charges.
