Japan's Tabata strikes gold at Winter Asian Games
HACHINOHE, Japan - Maki Tabata waves to supporters after winning the women's 3,000 meters in speed skating and gave Japan its first gold medal of the Winter Asian Games on Feb. 2. The 28-year-old national champion clocked 4 minutes, 29.58 seconds at Nagane Park Speed Skating Rink in Hachinohe, northern Japan, to finish almost two seconds clear of South Korean Back Eun Bi, who timed 4:31.41.
