High temperatures detected at former Soviet nuclear test site
MOSCOW, Russia - Researchers in Kazakstan said their recent studies indicate an extensive area at a former Soviet nuclear testing site in the country's Semipalatinsk area has shown abnormal temperatures more 10 degrees higher than those of surrounding areas for unknown reasons. In this infrared photo taken in November 2000 from a satellite, the testing site is shown in the area encircled with black lines and higher temperatures were detected in the red and yellow areas.
