Gov't leaves bleak economic assessment unchanged
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi (R) speaks at meeting of his economic ministers Feb. 19. The meeting endorsed a monthly economic report, in which the government maintained its lackluster view of the economy, restating that the Japanese economy has weakened, but refrained from indicating whether the move signals an end to its latest recovery.
