Korean school holds open classes to show its standards

OSAKA, Japan - A teacher at a pro-Pyongyang Korean middle school in Osaka talks to her students during her class March 8. The school held open classes to appeal to the Japanese public that its academic standards are comparable to those at Japanese schools. The move came in response to the Japanese government's new plan to give only graduates of ''Western style'' international schools -- but not Korean, Chinese and other ethnic schools -- in Japan automatic qualification to take national university exams.
