Sumitomo Chemical, Mitsui Chemicals scrap merger plan

TOKYO, Japan - Hiroyuki Nakanishi (L), president of Mitsui Chemicals Inc., and Hiromasa Yonekura, president of Sumitomo Chemical Co., speak at a news conference at a Tokyo hotel on March 31. They said the two companies have agreed to scrap their plan to integrate operations under a holding company to be formed in October.
