Asashoryu gets Time's Asian heroes award

TOKYO, Japan - Mongolian Yokozuna Asashoryu received the Asian Heroes 2003 award from the Time magazine in a ceremony at a Tokyo hotel on June 11. Addressing the gathering, Asashoryu said, ''(The magazine) was kind enough to cite me in recognition of my doing my best in sumo. I will continue to devote myself heart and soul to become a bridge between Japan and Mongolia in the sports world.''
