Gov't upgrades economic assessment in Aug.

TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi (C) presides over a meeting of his economic ministers at his office on Aug. 5. His government upgraded its assessment of Japan's economy in August for the first time in five months due to signs of improvement in the U.S. economy and steadiness in Tokyo stock prices.
