Nippon Steel gas tank fire put out, probe underway

NAGOYA, Japan - A fire that broke out at a coke oven gas tank following an explosion at the Nagoya ironworks of Nippon Steel Corp. in Tokai, Aichi Prefecture, on Sept. 3, is put under control on Sept. 4. Nippon Steel said clients' production could be affected if the manufacturing of parts is suspended for three days or longer.

            NAGOYA, Japan - Two people try to escape from a window in Nagoya on Sept. 16 after a man armed with a knife took eight people hostage and set fire on the fourth floor of the building, demanding unpaid wages. A massive explosion rocked the building 10 minutes after seven of the hostages were freed. Initial reports said three people were killed, including the man himself.
