(1)Ogata named JICA's new chief
TOKYO, Japan - Newly appointed Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) chief Sadako Ogata (L) receives a letter of appointment signed by Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi on Oct. 1. Ogata, 76, became the first non-Foreign Ministry retiree to lead the organization. She will continue to serve as Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's special representative for assistance to Afghanistan.
