Nissan only delivers 60 of 6,000 orders for electric vehicle

Nissan officials said Jan. 17, 2011, the company has only delivered about 60 units of the vehicle in Japan as of Jan. 14 even though it has already taken 6,000 orders due to be sold by March 31. Nissan attributed the slow pace to the need for careful work in the manufacturing process but denied any delay of the delivery of the pre-ordered cars.

Toyota to file for recall of luxury Lexus models Monday

TOKYO, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. will file on July 5 for a recall of eight models, including luxury Lexus cars, due to an engine defect that could cause the vehicles to stop while in motion, affecting about 90,000 units in Japan, company officials said on July 2, 2010. The recall will cover the top-of-the-line LS460 sedan (file photo) and other Lexus models -- the LS600h, LS600hL, GS350, GS450h, GS460 and IS350 -- as well as the Toyota Crown.

World's 1st fuel cell power generator completed

DaimlerChrysler delivers fuel-cell car to Tokyo Gas

TOKYO, Japan - Two officials from the Japan unit of DaimlerChrysler AG pose beside a fuel-cell-powered passenger car, the F-Cell, the company delivered to Tokyo Gas Co. in a ceremony in Tokyo on Dec. 4. This is the first time a fuel-cell vehicle was actually handed over to a customer. The German carmaker said it plans to deliver 60 F-Cell cars to other customers in Japan, the United States, Germany and Singapore over two years beginning this year.
