Mazda releases Axela in Japan

TOKYO, Japan - Mazda Motor Corp. launched the Axela (shown), a ''sports compact'' car, at its dealerships nationwide Oct. 15. Mazda, an affiliate of U.S. automaker Ford Motor Co., set the Axela as a successor model to the Familia, which has been a popular compact car since its launch in 1963.
