Japan's oldest person after Hongo's death
HIROSHIMA, Japan - File photo shows Mitoyo Kawate, 114, of the city of Hiroshima, who became the oldest person in Japan, following the death on Oct. 31 of Kamato Hongo, according to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Hongo had been Japan's oldest person since 1999 when she was 111.
