(2)Japan coalition set to retain slimmer majority

TOKYO, Japan - Major opposition Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) leader Naoto Kan (R) and senior party member Ichiro Ozawa speak at a news conference soon after the vote counting in the House of Representatives election began on Nov. 9. Kyodo News projections show the ruling coalition led by the Liberal Democratic Party appears set to retain control of the lower house in the day's election but by a sharply reduced margin, while the DJP is making major gains.
