JAXA's fairing separation and release test for the H3 rocket

On April 17, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) conducted a separation and release test of the fairing (the tip of the rocket) for the new H3 core rocket at Kawasaki Heavy Industries' Harima Works in Harima, Hyogo Prefecture (photo). QPS Research Institute successfully launched the first nano radar satellite.

The QPS Research Institute (Fukuoka, Japan) launched the first micro radar satellite "Izanagi" from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in India on the 11th. The satellite, which was loaded on a shared rocket, climbed to an altitude of about 570 kilometers around Australia. The satellite was detached about 17 minutes after takeoff, and the launch was a success. About 500 people, including people from local companies that cooperated in the development of the satellite and children, gathered at the public viewing site of the Fukuoka Prefectural Government. After the launch of the second satellite, Izanami, in 2020, the number of satellites will increase to 36. Using radar, the satellite will have a resolution of one meter and will be able to make observations every 10 minutes, even at night and in bad weather. Japan braces for 1st total eclipse in 46 yrs

TOSHIMA, Japan - This July 18 photo from a Kyodo News-chartered helicopter shows Akuseki Island south of the southwestern Japan prefecture of Kagoshima. A total solar eclipse can be observed on the island on July 22 for 6 minutes and 25 seconds, which will be the world's longest duration of the space show seen from an inhabited area in this century. The total eclipse will be the first in 46 years that can be seen from Japanese territory.

Japan launches H-2A rocket carrying satellite

TANEGASHIMA, Japan - Japan's H-2A rocket carrying the Advanced Land Observing Satellite ''Daichi'' is successfully launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture on Jan. 24. The satellite is intended to collect topographic data to contribute to cartography and capture images of disaster-hit areas anywhere in the world.

H-2A rocket launch postponed due to malfunction

TANEGASHIMA, Japan - The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency said Jan. 23 it has decided to postpone the launch of a H-2A rocket carrying a land-observation satellite to Jan. 24 or later from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture due to a malfunction in the ground equipment.

3 Japanese astronauts hope to contribute to space station projec
