Top U.S. commander in Okinawa reluctant about cutting troops
NAHA, Japan - Okinawa Area Coordinator Lt. Gen. Robert Blackman, speaking in an interview with Kyodo News on Dec. 23, suggests he is reluctant about drastically reducing troops in the southernmost prefecture. He said Okinawa is in a ''unique strategic location'' among the U.S. military's deployment locations around the world.
