Group warns of spread of tumors among sea turtles in Japan
TOKYO, Japan - Members of the Osaka-based Sea Turtle Association of Japan warned on Dec. 29 that a serious tumor-causing illness, called fibropapillomas, is apparently spreading among the turtles, with three cases found in Okinawa, Shizuoka and Kochi prefectures since last summer. File photo shows a sea turtle in the sea near the Ogasawara islands, south of Tokyo.
