MMC's Eckrodt to resign to take blame for business woes

TOKYO, Japan - Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (MMC) President Rolf Eckrodt (in file photo) may step down to take the blame for poor results at the firm, which is trying to revive itself with help from its biggest shareholder, DaimlerChrysler AG, sources close to the company said Feb. 16. Eckrodt, a former senior official at DaimlerChrysler, assumed the presidency in June 2002 after being sent to the MMC board in 2001 from the German-American automaker to turn around the Japanese company.

Mitsubishi Fuso appoints Daimler's Boelstler as new president, CEO

TOKYO, Japan - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. said May 31 that Harald Boelstler (file photo), currently in charge of its parent company DaimlerChrysler AG's Mercedes-Benz passenger car procurement section, will succeed current President and Chief Executive Officer Wilfried Porth. The appointment will take place after being approved at a regular shareholder meeting on June 27.
