Senior LDP tax expert Yamanaka dies at 82
TOKYO, Japan - Sadanori Yamanaka (file photo), a senior Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) lawmaker who influenced the nation's tax policies in the 1980s, including the introduction of the consumption tax, died on Feb. 20 at a Tokyo hospital. He was 82. Yamanaka held a number of cabinet posts such as director general of the Environment Agency and the Defense Agency, as well as being minister of international trade and industry.
