Nissan begins leasing fuel-cell vehicles

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Itaru Koeda (L), co-chairman of Nissan Motor Co., gives Cosmo Oil Co. Chairman and President Keiichiro Okabe a key for an X-Trail FCV fuel-cell vehicle March 29 in Yokohama. Nissan began leasing the vehicle the same day following in the footsteps of rivals Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. in efforts to promote commercial use of environment-friendly fuel-cell cars.

          TOKYO, Japan - Fuel cell-powered vehicles from Toyota Motor Corp, Nissan Motor Co. and Honda Motor Co. leave the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Tokyo on Nov. 11, 2009, for a 1,100-kilometer run to Fukuoka to demonstrate that they can go as far as gasoline-powered cars on a single fueling.
