Int'l garden fest welcomes millionth visitor

HAMAMATSU, Japan - Norimitsu Okada (2nd from R) of Aichi Prefecture was the millionth visitor to the Shizuoka International Garden and Horticulture Exhibition in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture May 7. He was awarded air tickets to Taiwan. The exhibition opened April 8 and runs until Oct. 11.

    NAGOYA, Japan - Toshio Nakamura, secretary general of the 2005 World Exposition in Aichi Prefecture, tells reporters in Nagoya on April 7 that the number of advance tickets sold for the exhibition totaled 7.04 million as of the end of March. The tickets, available at a 20% discount, have been on sale since last September, and the number sold makes up 47% of the targeted 15 million visitors.
