Elpida starts construction of world's DRAM plant
HIROSHIMA, Japan - Yukio Sakamoto, president of Elpida Memory Inc., briefs reporters at the Hiroshima Prefectural government office on construction of a dynamic random access memory chip plant which he claims has the world's largest production capacity. Elpidia, a joint venture between NEC Corp. and Hitachi Ltd., will invest some 450-500 billion yen in construction of the plant in Higashi-Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture.
