U.N. rapporteur hopes to enter N. Korea to probe rights abuses
BANGKOK, Thailand - Vitit Muntarbhorn, a Thai academic recently enlisted by the United Nations to probe the human rights situation in North Korea, tells Kyodo News on Aug. 16 that he hopes to enter the country soon despite opposition to his appointment from Pyongyang and that the issue of still missing Japanese abducted in the 1970s and 1980s is part of his mandate.
