Okada smiles after retaining DPJ presidency
TOKYO, Japan - Katsuya Okada, leader of the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan, smiles after being assured of retaining the party presidency Aug. 30 as no other candidates filed to run in the presidential election by the 4 p.m. deadline. He will be given a fresh two-year term in an extraordinary party convention slated for Sept. 13.
