Local favorite Tamada wins Grand Prix of Japan

MOTEGI, Japan - Japan's Makoto Tamada holds his trophy in joy after beating championship leader Valentino Rossi of Italy to win the MotoGP Grand Prix of Japan for his second victory of the season on Sept. 19. Tamada, riding a Honda, completed the 24 laps at 4.8-kilometer Motegi Twin Ring Circuit in 43 minutes 43.220 seconds to beat Rossi, who finished second on a Yamaha, and fellow Japanese Shinya Nakano, who took third on his Kawasaki.
