SEATTLE, United States - Fireworks are set off at Safeco Field in Seattle on Oct. 1 after Seattle Mariners leadoff batter Ichiro Suzuki hit a single to center in the third inning of a game against the Texas Rangers to set a major league single-season hit record of 258. Ichiro added one more hit in the sixth inning, extending his record to 259. (MLB)
